Clarity and control when needed most.

As we get older, creating a Lasting power of Attorney (LPA) can be even more vital than having a Will.

An LPA will ensure that your family can help and act on your behalf if you ever lose mental capacity (such as through an accident or suffering dementia or a stroke).

You must make an LPA while you still have full mental capacity - if you suffer any loss of it, it will be too late. That’s why it’s a very good idea to make one at the same time as you are making your Will.

There are two types of LPAs - we can help you create both.

Health and Welfare

A Health and Welfare LPA ensures that the person or people you appoint as your attorney will be able to speak with doctors and be informed about the options of treatment on your behalf. They are able to give consent for your treatment and challenge any decisions being made.

If you need it, they can also make decisions on your behalf regarding social care and whether you stay in your home or move to a care facility.

Property and Financial

A Property and Financial LPA means that you can appoint someone to manage your money and wider financial affairs, from selling your house to your pension to your gas bill.

This is vital for those suffering from dementia, but also helpful for anyone having difficulty keeping on top of paperwork.
